My friend Richard and me with the comic I drew.

My friend Richard and me, Pamo.

A few weeks ago a friend asked me to draw his daughter’s favorite joke. Here’s the joke:

  • Two dinosaurs watch Noah’s Ark float away. One turns to the other and says, “Was that today?”

Seemed simple enough but I discovered the joke had already been drawn by another artist. You can see that comic by CLICKING HERE. (This comic shows up in many places on the internet but I can’t find a website for the creator. I just wasn’t comfortable reproducing it here without permission.)

I then decided to go full blown Pamo style with cats and a positive ending. This is where Jeff stepped in and earned equal billing in the creation credits. We talked it through over several versions until finally I was happy with it. Finally!

dino toon finalYay comics!

Until next toon,

Mad respect to you, Pam. Seriously. I am impressed that you respected another artist’s copyright and chose to spin your strip off in another direction instead. I’m sure Richard’s daughter would have loved it! πŸ˜€

  19. Looks like Dan Regan is the artist of the original comic you mentioned, Pam! He works for Hallmark cards apparently and you can find more of his work here:
Great job on the twist and it looks great!
